Directions to the Field:

Now open for flying at the Indianapolis Executive Airport (formerly Terry Airport, see map below). Northwest of Indianapolis. The flying site is on the West side of the airport property. Go South from state road 32 on county road 1100 East until you see our sign on the East side of the road (looking at the airport property). The gate has a padlock for airport security. Please contact any member for access. Our runway is 500+ feet in length and 50+ feet wide. A designated area for helicopter flight is provided and helicopter pilots are always welcome. Control line and free flight are not allowed.

Club Meetings:

Second Thursday of each Month, 7:00 PM at Robin Run Village. On the North side of West 62nd Street, between Georgetown and Zionsville Roads. (http://www.indywestrc.org/Site/Map_to_Meeting_Site_%28Robin_Run%29.html)[map] (http://www.indywestrc.org/Site/Map_to_Meeting_Site_%28Robin_Run%29.html).

Meetings are held in the "Stucky Memorial Community Room" in the Robin Run Retirement Village Apartments building.

I am new and wanting to try to fly. Going to buy a trainer probably a supercub. What do I need to do to be able to get to fly on the site???

First you will need an AMA membership. Then just show up and meet the guys.

James. I see this thread is a bit dated. Have you had the chance to check out our website that David linked to at the top of this thread? There's a contact page there where you can contact any of our officers/instructors. As people have pointed out, you'll need an AMA membership to join the club. We have trainer planes that you can use to see if you like the sport before you join. If you want to "try before you buy", so to speak, contact Bill Russell from the IndyWest website and he'll be more than happy to assist.
